S-Fold Curtain Measuring

  • Measure S-Fold Curtains to fit outside the frame.
  • You cannot use your existing track, the track must be ours to suit the S-Fold pleat
  • Fitting S-Fold Curtains 100mm above the frame is standard as there should be solid fixing to screw into.
  • Optional print this worksheet to record measurements - measuring worksheet click here.

S-Fold Curtain Measuring Outside Fit

TOOLS REQUIRED:

1. Metal tape measure 2. Pencil

Measure width, hook a metal tape measure over the outside edge of the frames architrave and measure across to the outside edge of the opposite frame architrave. Record that measurement. For center open you can add 400mm for stacking either side (800mm overall added). For a one way stack you can add as much as you like or what you have free minimum suggestion 400mm. Contact us for advice on what to add if you need some help.

Measure drop, measure from the top of the frames architrave down to the ground for floor length. Record this measurement. Add 100mm if you have the space above the frame. If you have no space above the frame contact us with a photo so we can advise what to add. Measure from the top of the frames architrave to the bottom of the frames architrave and add 150mm for a non-floor length finish. Also add your 100mm above.

With a floor length S-Fold style curtain fabric shouldn’t touch or gather on the floor, it should hang 5mm clear just “floating above flooring” to maintain the S-Fold effect.

TIPS:

  • On wide sliding doors, reframe from centre open, if you have the space stack fabric to the non opening side, e.g. if sliding door opens from the left and slides towards the right, stack the fabric to the right.
  • When measuring watch out for alarm sensors, heat pumps, furniture placement, cat doors etc. Think about the end product and how it will be installed, before ordering.
  • Our S-Fold curtains are warm, but light, this is because they are three pass blockout coated so requires no separate lining. Please give the curtains time to settle and train them to stack back. Please note is is normal for them to spring somewhat when first installed.
  • When deciding the height, number one consideration above all is do you have solid fixing? To securely install a curtain your brackets must hit solid fixing, you must have a bracket at the far left and far right ends as well as a centre bracket and possibly more, evenly spaced between the ends and centre bracket. Consider heights of other lines in the room, door heights, eyelines, other blind heights, e.g. Roman Blinds, and make them match.
  • Our fabric is continuous so there is no price advantage to going short, these curtains look their best full length.
